Garena revealed the new in-game characters in Free Fire India, featuring “Thala”, the character of MS Dhoni.
Free Fire India is set to launch on September 5, 2023. Pre-registration was already stated on 31st Auguest. Garena revealed that well-known Indian sports figures like MS Dhoni, Saina Nehwal, Sunil Chhetri, Leander Paes, and Kabaddi star Rahul Chaudhary will be featured as new in-game characters. Garena, a Singaporean global online games developer and publisher, today announced the launch of Free Fire India, available for download exclusively in India from September 5. Free Fire India incorporates unique content and features to encourage a safe, healthy, and fun gameplay experience.

Free Fire India is scheduled to launch on 5th September and Garena also unveiled the Indian cricket icon MS Dhoni as the new brand ambassador for Free Fire India. He will be celebrated as the first Indian sportsperson to be featured in-game as a playable character, “Thala”. Dhoni will be joined by other leading sportspersons, such as football captain Sunil Chhetri, badminton champion Saina Nehwal, tennis legend Leander Paes, and Kabbadi champion Rahul Chaudhari.
The main rival of Free Fire in India, Battlegrounds Mobile India, had also made a comeback in India after the ban in 2022, so fans were expecting the same comeback for Free Fire in India. The comeback news of Free Fire is officially confirmed.
